Hi, my name is Nigel Poore and I am the founder of Pin Sharp Photography. I have always been a keen photographer and was always in charge of the family camera on holidays and other occasions because to use other peoples words, I always took a good picture. From the time my parents brought me a Praktica SLR (single lens reflex) film camera for my 18th birthday I was hooked.
I remember it vividly as it was at the time and to me, an amazing piece of kit. It had a standard zoom and a telephoto lens that you could interchange and as a keen photographer this was a revelation to me. I was in awe at how it could open creative opportunities.
Over the next few years I experimented, read books, applied techniques and really tried to hone the craft. In fact within a couple of years I was being asked to capture family and friends weddings, and portraits of young family members.
Unfortunately, as some people will understand, photography is not a cheap hobby, the cost of film and processing was high and this coupled with the fact that I entered my 20's and discovered beer and girls, meant that slowly but surely my enthusiasm for the hobby wained, but never went completely.
Many years later digital photography came to the fore, cameras were being produced that could take endless amounts of pictures without the need for processing. In the last few years the cameras that have become available on the market have increased in quality and now, we are able to produce images that are as good as, if not better than those we produced on film, and with greater flexibility.
Since purchasing my first Canon DSLR (digital single lens reflex) a few years back I have slowly upgraded my equipment and cameras and in recent years have attended evening classes and training courses in an effort to improve. Two years ago I started providing professional wedding services and I am now expanding to portraits and family pictures.
To give you an idea, photography is very much a second profession to me, I am also a co founder and director of a telecommunication business, but as I enter in to my 40's, I would love my photography to become my main job because as they say, "if your job is something that you love, you will never work another day again"
